Artist's Comments

The category choices are bugging me with this one, because it's properly an editorial piece, but I can't find anything like that to put it in. I suppose this will have to do.

This was entirely the brain child of photographer Jeff McLain, who wanted to make a visual commentary on several things, including self-esteem issues and eating disorders. Though I am the model whose face you see, this isn't actually about the fat woman in the mirror. It's about the thin woman who thinks she sees a fat woman in the mirror. Think about it. There's something worthwhile here.

I love the concept alot and the way you have chosen to portray it is really simple, straight-forward but equally strong

It is a very well thought out piece that makes one think...then think again.

Great expression upon your face to convey/reflect the skinny one's emotions. To me, it was a quite psychological perhaps on the edge of seeing someone being anorexic.

this strikes such a chord with me. because ive been there, even though i'm not thin, im not fat per say, but i always saw nothing but a fat girl.

it took me so long to realize that i was a person and my body didnt matter so much.
