Do y'all think Emotive Portraits is the best place for this? It didn't seem to fit anywhere else but Miscellaneous, and I'd hate to relegate it to that!
This was one of those spur of the moment things that occurred to me towards the end of a shoot with an entirely different focus. I looked at these two bolts of embroidered silk that were draped over me and said, "Hey Owen! Mind if we take a couple of veiled photos?" (I think I ended up minding more than he did - holding two bolts of silk on your head at the same time is harder than it sounds!)
As it happens, these shots turned out to be my favorites, though there were quite a few great images from the shoot. You'll no doubt see some of them eventually.

Oooo, very nice, the pattern on the silk matches the mood of the piece and the overlayed color looks really, really nice. I likey!

Everything in this picture, for me, grows out of the slight angle of your eyebrows... Everything is in harmony with the dynamic movement of that angle, the eyes cast to the right while the face disappears off to the left, off the page and into the silks... that upward and to the right curving angle that follows the gaze, everything works together with that. The feeling I get is a watchful withdrawing, a submissive hesitance that masks awareness and interest.
Thank you so much! Your opinions mean the world to me.

scribler, what an incredible comment. THANK you. (Though of course compositionally I can't take credit for it!) I get the same feeling from it, which was definitely what I was aiming for. Your comments just make my day. Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful response.

I'm getting some eastern wibes from this. Not sure if it's like arab or asian vibes but none the less I like it. There's a certain sudden-ness to it. It looks like a quick snapshot but it seems to hold some kind of story behind it.
Interesting as always.

Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?
beautiful shot, I always love shots that focus on the eyes. Eyes are probably one of the most beautiful parts of the human body... but so often neglected when people consider what's attractive.
wow Shy this is beautiful I love the shy feel to this and the way you do fell submissive and withdrawn ....but I feel something almost daring in those eyes as well Diffent almost.

You look so serene and peaceful, and the picture definitely highlights one of your exquisite features - your eyes.
Fabulous.
I'm wondering what kind of film he used, the tones have a sepia quality to them.
I love it, Shyly.
